The 4th annual Rumcast Fantasy Rum Draft will be performed LIVE at Boston Rum Week!!
This event applies the concept of a fantasy sports draft to rum. Three
contestants—hosts John and Will, plus a third "contestant"
(comprised of the rum industry professionals being interviewed on the podcast)
— take turns selecting rums from those available at the Boston Rum Week
Grand Tasting and assigning each bottle to a specific category.
Each bottle may be drafted only once, making every pick strategic: contestants
must consider which rums best represent a style or category, offer something
distinctive, and give their team the strongest overall roster.
As the draft progresses, contestants explain and debate their selections,
creating an entertaining showcase of the event’s rums. After the draft, the
audience votes for the team they believe has the best overall roster.
Checking off the categories your bottles makes it more likely that your bottles
will be selected in the draft (and give them exposure on the biggest podcast
in the rum universe!)
